Earl Bamber Motorsport To Enter Super GT Malaysia Round

The return of the Autobacs Super GT Series to Sepang International Circuit on the weekend of 19 July will feature an extra dash of local flavour, with the announcement of a wildcard GT300 entry for Earl Bamber Motorsport (EBM) and their Porsche 911 GT3-R to be driven by Malaysian drivers Jazeman Jaafar and Adrian Henry D’Silva.

EBM has committed to a full-time, two-car effort in the GT World Challenge Asia series and will now add a debut Super GT appearance to a portfolio headlined by their efforts at the Bathurst 12 Hour and Suzuka 10 Hour races, as well as the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.

The all-Malaysian pro-am lineup will be led by 27-year-old Jaafar, who has a winning pedigree in single-seaters and in sports cars. Jafaar was an LMP2 class winner in the WEC and Asian Le Mans Series while with Jackie Chan DC Racing, winning the 2018 6 Hours of Fuji. Last season, Jafaar ran a partial schedule in the GT World Challenge Asia series, driving for Triple Eight Race Engineering, as well as a partial schedule in the China GT Championship for Craft-Bamboo Racing.

53-year-old gentleman racer D’Silva, who drove for EBM in last season’s Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, was part of the last two competition victories for Strakka Racing, taking the win in the Pro-Am Cup at the 2019 Suzuka 10 Hours and Kyalami 9 Hours alongside co-drivers Christina Nielsen and Dominik Baumann.

The 2020 Super GT race at Sepang will be the first night-time race meeting held in the series’ 25-year history, and the first championship race held at the circuit since 2013.
