EBM Takes Wraps Off New Livery for Suzuka

Earl Bamber Motorsport will head into this weekend’s Suzuka 10 Hours with a new livery for its Porsche 911 GT3 R that it will debut in the Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli round.

The Malaysian-based team, which claimed victory in February’s Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour with Porsche’s previous-generation GT3 contender, has entered a single 2019-spec Porsche for the penultimate round of the IGTC season.

Romain Dumas, Mathieu Jaminet and Sven Mueller will pilot the No. 911 car, with Bathurst winners Matt Campbell, Dennis Olsen and Dirk Werner having been allocated to Absolute Racing’s factory-backed Porsche, which will carry the No. 912.

Dumas, Jaminet and Mueller also took part in the Australian enduro with EBM, which had operated as a two-car team.

“We had a great start to the year at Bathurst, with strong pace, so we hope to be able to carry this over to this event,” Mueller said.

“I was also driving with Earl last year at this event, so that is now special to be driving for his team. My colleagues and I will give it our all.”

Team principal Earl Bamber, however, will be absent this weekend as the Kiwi takes part in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race at Virginia International Raceway.

Bamber and co-driver Laurens Vanthoor currently lead the IMSA GT Le Mans points standings.

A total of four Porsches, meanwhile, will on the grid in Suzuka, including privateer entries from LM Corsa and AMAC Motorsport that will also be eligible to score IGTC manufacturer points.

Porsche currently trails Mercedes-AMG by eight points in the title race.
